SC3 Scoring in a Floor Goal
Bean Bag is not touching Robot
Bean Bag is entirely in the Field Goal
Bean Bag color
Red Bean Bag matches Red Field Goal
Blue Bean Bag matches Blue Field Goal
Yellow Bean Bag can be in any Field Goal
<SC4> Scoring in a L1, L2, L3 Goal (Pyramid)
No part of the Bean Bag is contacting a Robot.
Bean Bag is contacting the respective goal horizontal PET Sheet (marked L1, L2 or L3), or stacked on a Bean Bag on that horizontal PET Sheet.
Bean Bag color
- Red Bean Bag matches Red Pyramid Goal
- Blue Bean Bag matches Blue Pyramid Goal
- Yellow Bean Bag can be in any Pyramid Goal
Bean Bag that touches multiple tiers PET Sheet will score the higher points.
Scenario 8:
Bean Bags A and C meet all criteria to be scored on the L1 Goal, since they are either in contact with the L1 Goal or are supported (directly or indirectly) by a Bean Bag in contact with the L1 Goal.
Bean Bag B is not scored since it does not match the color of the Goal (and is not yellow).
Bean Bag D meets all criteria to be scored on both the L1 and L2 Goals, but only receives points for the highest level (L2).
Scenario 9:
Bean Bag A is not scored since it does not match the color of the Goal (and is not yellow).
Bean Bags B and C meet all criteria to be scored on the L1 Goal, since they are supported (directly or indirectly) by Bean Bag A which is in contact with the L1 Goal.
Bean Bag D meets all criteria to be scored on both the L1 and L2 Goals, but only receives points for the highest level (L2).
Scenario 10:
Bean Bag A meets all criteria to be scored on the L1 Goal. (If this Bean Bag was fully inside the Pyramid Goal structure, it would be considered “out of the Field” and would not be scored.)
Scenario 11:
Bean Bags A, B, and C meet all criteria to be
scored on the L1 Goal.
Bean Bag D meets all criteria to be scored
on both the L1 and L2 Goals, but only
receives points for the highest level (L2).
Question: We had several instances where a single bean bag would be on the
L1 goal leaning on the side of the L2 goal and part of the bean bag was above
the L2 platform leaning over a bit. It always seemed like there was some likely
contact with the gray of the level 2 goal, so we would often credit the team
with the higher goal. However, the contact was always minimal. Should teams
be given the benefit of the doubt in this scenario?
Answer: We agree with your handling of these scenarios, where Teams were
credited with scoring in the higher goal.
In scenarios where a Referee cannot sufficiently determine whether or not a
Bean Bag is contacting a Goal, Teams should be given the benefit of the doubt
(i.e., assume the Bean Bag is contacting the Goal).
The pictured Bean Bag is still considered inside the field and is scored on the L3 Goal.
Extending over a Goal does not mean a Bean Bag is Scored
on that Goal. If the Head Referee determines that Bean Bag
#1 is not contacting the L1 Goal, it does not satisfy <SC4.b>
and is not considered Scored on L1.
Extending over a Goal does not mean a Bean Bag is Scored
on that Goal. If the Head Referee determines that Bean Bag
#2 is not contacting the L1 Goal, it does not satisfy <SC4.b>
and is not considered Scored on L1.
If the Head Referee determines that Bean Bag #3 is not
contacting the L1 Goal, it does not satisfy <SC4.b> and is not
considered Scored on L1.
Based on the included photos, a Head Referee might find it difficult to determine whether Bean Bag #1 and Bean Bag #2 are making contact with the L1 Goal. As mentioned in Q&A 3187, in scenarios where a Referee cannot sufficiently determine whether or not a Bean Bag is contacting a Goal, Teams should be given the benefit of the doubt (i.e., assume the Bean Bag is contacting the Goal).
<SC5> Scoring in a L4 Goal
Bean Bag is not touching Robot
Bean Bag is contacting the horizontal PET Sheet (marked L4), or stacked on a Bean Bag on that horizontal PET Sheet
Bean Bag color
- Only Yellow Bean Bag can be in L4 Goal
